My Creative Space - Atomic Collar

I've been wanting to make a collar for a friend for a while now but just couldn't settle on a fabric design. Then clever Cindy suggested this one when I posted about my Atomic Wallflowers print-up. Perfect...

... except of course the buttonhole.
I'm done with them... that is, until I can find someone to show me how. I think this is the first time my 'trial and error' method of self-teaching has let me down.

Anyway, happy creative space day everyone!
Hope it's been a wonderfully creative week for you :)

It looks good to me. What about sewing the button on the front part of the collar and then have it fasten with a snap?

I can't see whatever is wrong with the button hole, but hey I'm no button hole expert ( I still do the old hand method)
The Collar is perfect and the print works magic with it. xo

Lovely collar. I struggle with buttonholes too - to be honest, I have always disliked buttons! I'd use a snap or hidden velcro I think. Avoid the entire problem. But that is a very cute and appropriate button, and I love the look on bare skin!

Love it with the spaghetti straps!
My new machine does automatic buttonholes which I worked out with a video online. Almost foolproof, though I did mess it up twice!

Hiya Kylie, Love the print, love it's name too.

Buttonholes, aren't they just an automatic machine thingy. Hmmm I've only ever done them with my Mum reassuringly close by and slavishly following the sewing machine manual. : )

Hmn. Maybe we should cut to the chase and organise ourselves a button holing course? Or alternatively develop a creative penchant for velcro. The collar? Well the collar is sublime.

I love your collar. what a fantastic idea, I've never seen it before. very classy. Happy to have found your blog! Button holes are a pain. I would be happy to talk you through it if you let me know what sort of machine you have and weather it has an automatic button hole setting or not.

Kylie, it looks perfectly fine. You could always pretty press stud it? Or place a tiny brooch over the top?
Thanks for the mention x
